Fully funded and undaunted: CFPB remains open for business despite government shutdown

The partial government shutdown that has shuttered many federal agencies – leaving hundreds of thousands of employees without paychecks – is having absolutely no effect on one behemoth bureaucracy: the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The CFPB is immune from the shutdown because it is allowed to freely raid the Federal Reserve for its funding instead of going through the normal Congressional appropriations process.
